Magic with Paper Money

WARNING! If you do not want to learn a really great piece of magic and get roars of applause stop reading now.

Okay, for those of you who are still here I want to teach a utility move with paper currency that is used for a variety of money magic tricks. We did have an article on the bill fold but it seems to have vanished, so we will show you these steps first…. then a routine to go with the move.

Grab yourself a paper note and get ready to learn the bill fold.

Step 1. Hold the bill length ways between your hands so your audience can see the face of the bill.

Step 1.

Step 2. Fold the bill in half making the fold outward to the audience. Make sure to give the bill a nice crease at each fold so the folds stay neat.

Step 2.

Step 3. Fold the bill in half upward, again folding toward the audience.

Step 3.

Step 4. Now another fold end to end. For some routines this fold is sufficient but for use with a thumb tip or bill tube you need to go just a little smaller.

Step 4.

Step 5. One final fold from bottom to top leaves us this nice little bill packet.

Step 5.

Give yourself a hand, you now have learned a very practical maneuver for many paper magic routines. As you can see this part is not very difficult but still you want to practice this move so you can accomplish it smoothly during a show.

We now can perform a nice bill vanish and reproduction to wow your audience.

The bill vanish:

Step 1. Borrow a bill of any denomination from a member of the audience, have them sign it or write down the serial number so that they will recognize their bill after the routine is finished.

Step 2. Now you begin the bill fold, instructing the audience that you are going to make the bill vanish into thin air.

Step 3.  After the fold, steal the thumb tip into the opposite hand, you want the nail of the thumb tip facing you.

Step 3.

Step 4. Place the folded bill into your closed hand.

Step 4.

Step 4. Magicians view.

Step 5. Continue sliding the thumb into the tip making sure it is secure before you steal it away.

Step 5.

Step 6. The hand that is concealing the tip steals away casually while leaving the opposite hand closed.

Step 6.

*Relax the hand with the tip to your side as you bring the closed hand upward.

Step 7. Say some magical words; open the hand to reveal the bill has vanished.

Step 7.

Reappearing bill:

You will now reach for 3 sealed envelopes, allow the spectator to examine the fact they are indeed sealed.

Step 1. Tell the spectator to choose one envelope, once this is done, drop the other two on the table in plain view of everyone.

Step 1.

Step 2. Tear open the envelope the spectator chose.

Step 2.

Step 3. Reach into the envelope with the hand wearing the thumb tip. Make sure the thumb tip is hidden from audience view.

Step 3.

*Pinch the thumb tip through the envelope with the opposite hand so it remains inside the envelope.

Step 4. Slide the bill from inside the tip and pull out of the envelope.

Step 4.

*Discard this envelope in your case so the tip is not revealed.

Step 5. Open the bill to reveal it is the same one loaned to you by the spectator.

Step 5.

Stand back and listen to the applause for a trick well done.

If you wish, the two remaining envelopes can be opened to show that they are empty and the choice was truly magical.
