Customer Questions about Clown Character Development
Q:I want to be a clown, where do I start? A:One of the best ways to start is to take a class in beginning clowning. These are often taught through community colleges or adult education programs. Another place to check is with your local clown alley. You can find lists of registered clown alleys at Clowns of America International (www.coai.org) and World Clown Association (http://worldclown.com/). These two national clown organizations and many smaller local ones also host seminars and conventions throughout the year; these are an excellent source of knowledge and materials.
If you are not able to take a clown class, our Clown Guide includes articles on the types of clowns, makeup application and costume and character development. we also cover clowning activities, like face painting, balloon twisting, juggling. Clown Antics also stocks the highly recommended Strutter's Guide to Clown Makeup and Jim Howle's Make A Face DVD, along with many books and DVDs on Balloon Twisting, Face Painting, and much more.
